STAR TREK - THE VOYAGER SERIES

About the songs
These songs have been written for our 2017 space themed end of year concert, inspired by the launch of the Voyager probe 40 years ago.
While part of the school focus on the probe and its journey, my older classes tell the story of the Intrepid Class Starship Voyager!
Starting with an instrumental arrangement of the Voyager theme, each song in the series then relates to a part of Voyager's journey to a place a very long way away from home...

Voyager Theme Tune

I arranged the theme tune for my string ensemble. There are two backing tracks, one to show how the string parts should sound and the other to perform to. A couple of classic Star Trek motifs also make an appearance in the intro, one that my students will play on glockenspiels!

The beginning song, it takes the listener on a tour of this amazing starship!

The Delta Quadrant

Voyager's first mission goes awry when the ship is hit by a displacement wave, damaging the ship and hurling it into an unknown part of space known as the Delta Quadrant, seventy thousand light years from home!

Everything Starts With a Thought

This song is written from Voyager's Commanding Officer, Captain Janeway's perspective as she thinks about the new and unknown situation she is faced with. It gives an important message that we control our thoughts and shape our own future.

The song can be used as a stand alone song and is also featured on my Wellbeing page.

EMH (Emergency Medical Hologram)

Due to the situation Voyager find themselves in, they have to activate their Emergency Medical Hologram. As the name suggests, the hologram is usually only activated in emergencies, but the medical crew were lost in the damage from the displacement wave. The Doctor, as he becomes referred to, evolves over time and tries to fit in with the rest of the Voyager crew.

There are some samples of the Doctor's voice in this song, beginning with his most notable phrase!

Performance note: The beginning of the chorus works best by splitting the students into two groups so that one group sings the lines in brackets.

We are the Borg

Probably one of the best known alien races in Star Trek, the Borg are cybernetic beings that assimilate others in their seek for perfection. This song is written from their perspective in that they believe life will be enhanced once being a part of the collective.

Again, I have taken some key Borg phrases which appear in the intro. Enjoy!
